Hallo allerseits,
ich versuche gerade, TTN 4.1 dazu zu bewegen mit dem Navman 500 zusammen zu arbeiten, leider bisher ohne Erfolg.
Der Navman 500 ist zwar konform zu NMEA 0183 Ver. 2.20, allerdings überträgt er den Datenstrom an die Schnittstelle mit 57.600 Baud.
Auf dem Tungsten T3 wird der Navman 500 z.B. unter CetusGPS bei entspr. Setting erkannt, erhält einen Fix und ermittelt zuverlässig die Koordinaten; dito bei MapSonic oder GPSInfo von Navman in Verbindung mit der Open Serial library.
Obwohl der TomTom Navigator seit Ver. 4.1 die Möglichkeit bietet, ein "Anderes Kabel-NMEA-GPS" anzuschließen und dafür eine GPS-Baudrate von 57.600 einzustellen, wird der Navman 500 nicht erkannt.
Die Gegenprobe mit einem Magellan GPS Companion (der einwandfrei auch mit TTN 4.1 funktioniert) hat ergeben, dass es anscheinend egal ist, welche Baudrate man einstellt, dieser funktioniert nämlich bei jedem eingestellten Wert einwandfrei (liegt aber vielleicht auch daran, dass der Magellan GPS Companion -- möglicherweise unabhängig von der Einstullung durch den User -- automatisch als "TomTom Kabel-GPS" erkannt wird (Statusmeldung nach Fix in TTN 4.1)).
Meine Frage deshalb:
Wer hat schon Erfahrungen mit Kabel GPS resp. ClipOn-Empfängern in Verbindung mit TomTom Navigator 4.1 gesammelt, die zwar NMEA-kompatibel sind, aber nicht mit der Standard-Schnittstellengeschwindigkeit von 4.800 Baud operieren?

If you are using any GPS receiver other than the wired receiver we supply with the Palm wired GPS bundle from TomTom we can not guarantee this to work as your Navman might require propreitary drivers for this to work with the Palm. If you use the 'OTHER NMEA' device in the GPS status in the navigator menu of the Palm navigator software and it does not work then we can offer no support.

is it possible to use the Navman 500 GPS Device with TomTom Navigator for Palm?
The Navman 500 is compliant to NMEA 0183 Ver 2.20 but communicates at 57,600 Baud. As far as I have seen it is possible to set the Baud rate to 57,600 Baud in the GPS settings of TomTom Navigator for Palm, but this does not seem to have any effect.
For comparison reasons I tried a Magellan Companion which operates at 4,800 Baud and this works fine, even if I set the Baud rate to anything else than 4,800 Baud.
This leads to the conclusion that the Baud rate setting is of no use...
Can you give me some hints to make the Navman 500 GPS receiver operate with TomTom Navigator for Palm?
Any workaround is appreciated.
